Description

Night Shift Monday to Thursday 7:30p-6a

Principal Objective of Position:                                                                                                     

The Fabrication Lead is responsible for the hour to hour running of a designated work area or group of machines within the production facility. The Lead will be responsible, with minimal guidance, for the reallocation of resources on an ongoing basis to maximize scheduling to meet demand.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure quality expectations, operational procedures, and high standards of workmanship are maintained by self and assigned work area(s).
  • Oversee inventory counting for assigned work area(s) for month end.
  • Resolve machinery and quality problems in assigned work area(s).
  • Monitors changeovers, productivity, and scrap.
  • Conducts or coordinates all levels of production training to ensure employees can safely and effectively operate machinery and perform day to day functions.
  • Supervise production maintenance schedules.
  • Oversees work area and people to ensure consistent compliance with all local and Company safety rules as well as any regulatory standards.
  • Perform basic, routine tasks related to the leadership and oversight of employees in assigned work area(s), including but not limited to responding to basic employee inquiries, reviewing, adjusting, and approving timecards and time off requests, writing and conducting performance evaluations, and initiating verbal coaching and initial written reminder level corrective actions, as needed.
  • Ensure employee compliance with federal and state law as well as Company policies and procedures

 

Other Responsibilities:                                                                                                                    

  • Participate in Team and other meetings, as required.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Required:                                                                                           

  •  High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  •  Minimum of 2 years’ manufacturing or job shop experience required.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:                                                                                  

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain excellent safety and quality standards.
  • Ability to take initiative and work proactively.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated skill in executing inventory management procedures.
  • Ability to perform simple calculations and follow written instructions.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment both independently and within a team.
  • Ability to record and maintain accurate records with attention to detail

 

Preferred Qualifications:                                                                                                                

  • Lean manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience operating Laser preferred 

 

Work Environment:                                                                                                                         

This position is required to work in a job shop/manufacturing environment.  The incumbent will be exposed to work near moving mechanical parts frequently.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
